FROM THE CHAIRMAN'S DESK

Choosing the appropriate graduate program is perhaps the most important career decision you, as a prospective student, can make. It will not only determine how you will spend the next several years of your life, but will have a lasting impact on your career. We are pleased by your interest in the Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy and believe that if you are looking for a training program that is on the forefront of Neurobiology, you will find it at the Wake Forest University School Of Medicine.

Our objective is to give our students a solid conceptual, academic, and experimental foundation in the broad areas of Neurobiology and Anatomy. Separate tracks within the department allow students to tailor a curriculum that best fits their needs and interests. However, it is our intention to ensure that students develop not only extensive expertise in their chosen area of research, but a broad scientific perspective as well. This is achieved through a combination of formal coursework and laboratory involvement, tutorials, and seminars. More...

WINSTON-SALEM: CITY OF THE ARTS

Young, old, elegant, artsy, historical and comfortable, that's Winston-Salem. From Mayfest, a celebration of the city's ethnic diversity, to the Christmas Lovefeasts in Old Salem, the city combines the best of what is cosmopolitan with all the charm and simplicity of an easy-going Southern town.

Known statewide as "City of the Arts," Winston-Salem has one of the highest per capita donations to the arts in the nation. It owes much to its Arts Council - the first in the U.S.. Operating mostly in a fund-raising capacity now, the council supports individuals and groups and sponsors several annual city-wide celebrations. More...
